Add your HEIC photos

Drop them straight from your iPhone or a Photos export. They are read off your disk and stay there.

Let it convert

PNG is lossless, so there is nothing to tune for image quality. Files appear as each one finishes.

03

Download

Take one file, or the whole batch as a ZIP.

Why this one

Built against the ways these tools disappoint.

We ran the same files through the popular alternatives first. These are the gaps we found, and what this tool does instead.

01

Most HEIC converters only offer JPG, which throws pixels away.

PNG is lossless, so the decoded image is preserved exactly — the right choice before editing or archiving.

test: zoom into a detailed area and compare against a JPG conversion
02

Converters upload your photos to their servers to do the work.

The conversion runs inside your browser and the photo is never sent anywhere.

test: watch the network tab while a file converts
03

Nothing warns you that PNG files are much larger.

Each file lists its original and converted size, so the size increase is visible before you download.

test: convert one photo and read the two numbers
The detail

How this actually works.

HEIC is the efficient format iPhones use to save photos — small files, full quality, but not something every editor or app will open. Converting to PNG fixes that: PNG opens in virtually any image editor, viewer or website, keeps transparency, and — because it’s lossless — preserves the decoded photo exactly, with nothing thrown away.

That lossless part is the reason to choose PNG over JPG. Most HEIC converters only offer JPG, which re-compresses the image and discards detail. PNG keeps every pixel — what you want before editing, retouching or archiving. The trade-off is size: a lossless PNG of a photo is usually two to five times larger than the HEIC it came from, so this tool shows the original and converted size for each file and the increase is never a surprise. If a smaller file matters more than pixel-perfection, HEIC to WebP is the better pick.

Everything runs in your browser — your photos are decoded and converted on your own device and never uploaded to a server. Browsers can’t read Apple’s HEIC format on their own, so a small decoder library loads the first time you drop a file; your photo is never part of that request.

Need a different output? HEIC to PDF combines iPhone photos into one document, HEIC to WebP makes web-ready files, and the format field guide explains when each format is the right call.

FAQ

The questions people actually type in.

Are my photos uploaded to a server?

No. The conversion happens inside your browser and the photo is never sent anywhere. One caveat specific to HEIC: browsers cannot decode Apple's format on their own, so a small decoder library downloads the first time you drop a file. Your image is not part of that request.

Should I convert HEIC to PNG or JPG?

PNG if the image is going into an editor or needs to stay pixel-perfect. JPG if you are sharing it or emailing it, because PNG files of photographs are several times larger.

Why is my PNG bigger than the HEIC file?

HEIC is a highly efficient lossy format and PNG is lossless, so it stores far more data. Expect the file to grow two to five times. That is the cost of losing nothing.

Does converting to PNG lose any quality?

No. PNG stores the decoded image exactly, with no further compression loss.

Can I convert several HEIC photos at once?

Yes, with no file-count limit. Download them individually or as a single ZIP.

How do I convert HEIC to PNG on my iPhone?

iPhones don't export PNG directly — the built-in options give you JPG or a PDF, and a screenshot loses quality. Open this page in your phone's browser instead, drop the photos, and download true lossless PNGs. Nothing installs and nothing is uploaded.

Will the PNG keep transparency?

Yes. If the HEIC has transparent areas they're preserved in the PNG, which is one reason PNG is the right choice for logos, graphics and editing work.
