FAQ
The questions people actually type in.
Are my photos uploaded to a server?
No. The conversion happens inside your browser and the photo is never sent anywhere. One caveat specific to HEIC: browsers cannot decode Apple's format on their own, so a small decoder library downloads the first time you drop a file. Your image is not part of that request.
Why won't my iPhone photos open on Windows?
iPhones save in HEIC, Apple's high-efficiency format. It stores excellent quality at half the size, but support outside Apple devices is patchy, which is why most people convert before sharing.
Should I convert HEIC to WebP or JPG?
WebP if the image is going on a website — smaller files at the same quality, plus transparency. JPG if it is going to a client, a printer, or anyone whose software you cannot predict.
Does converting lose quality?
WebP compression discards some data, but at 80 the difference is normally invisible at ordinary viewing size. The before and after sizes are shown for every file.
Can I convert several HEIC photos at once?
