Cookies

This page explains how ToolsVale uses cookies, similar technologies, and third-party services like advertising and APIs. Read this alongside our Privacy Policy for the full picture of how we handle data.
What cookies are
Cookies are small text files stored on your device when you visit a website. They help a site remember information about your visit — like preferences, session details, or ad personalisation — so it can function correctly and, in some cases, show relevant advertising.
How ToolsVale uses cookies
You don’t need to accept cookies to use ToolsVale’s tools. Where we do use cookies, they fall into these categories:
- Essential cookies. Used for core site functionality, such as remembering your preferences or keeping the site secure. Without these, some basic features may not work as expected.
- Analytics cookies. If enabled, these help us understand which pages and tools are used, in aggregate, so we know what to improve. They do not identify you personally.
- Advertising cookies. We use Google AdSense to display ads on this site. See below for details.
Google AdSense and advertising
ToolsVale uses Google AdSense to display advertisements. Google, as a third-party vendor, uses cookies (including the DoubleClick cookie) to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites.
- Google’s use of advertising cookies allows it and its partners to serve ads based on your visit to this site and/or other sites on the internet.
- You may opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google’s Ads Settings.
- You can also opt out of a third-party vendor’s use of cookies for personalised advertising by visiting www.aboutads.info.
- Third-party ad vendors we work with, including Google, may use cookies, web beacons, and similar technologies to collect information about your visits to this and other sites to provide relevant advertisements.
- We do not control these third-party cookies. Their use is governed by the respective third party’s own privacy and cookie policies, not this one.
If you are located in the EEA, UK, or another region requiring consent, you will be asked to accept or manage cookie preferences before non-essential cookies (including advertising cookies) are set.
APIs and server-side processing
Most tools on ToolsVale run entirely in your browser and never transmit your file anywhere. However, some tools rely on server-side processing or third-party APIs to work — for example, where browser-only processing isn’t technically possible for a given format or feature.
- Where a tool uses server-side processing or an external API, this is stated clearly on that tool’s page, above the controls, before you use it.
- Files sent to a server or third-party API for processing are used only to perform the requested action and are not stored beyond what’s needed to complete that action, then deleted within a reasonable period.
- Third-party APIs we integrate with process data under their own terms and privacy policies; we choose providers that don’t use uploaded files for purposes unrelated to the task requested.
- We do not sell or share files processed via server-side tools with advertisers or unrelated third parties.
If you want to know whether a specific tool processes files locally or on a server, check that tool’s page or contact us.
Analytics
If analytics are enabled (such as Google Analytics), they may use cookies to collect aggregated, non-identifying data about site and tool usage. This helps us understand traffic and improve the site. Analytics providers may set their own cookies under their own policies.
Managing cookies
You can block, delete, or restrict cookies at any time through your browser settings, or via the cookie consent tool on this site where shown. Blocking cookies won’t stop most tools from working, since browser-based tools don’t depend on cookies to process files. Blocking advertising cookies may result in ads that are less relevant to you, but you will still see ads.
Changes to this policy
We may update this page as the site, our ad partners, or our tools change. When we do, we’ll revise the date at the top.
